Woman Allegedly Uses Wig to Hide More Than $1,600 in Stolen Cash

Florida police looking for stolen cash made a hair-raising discovery after they removed a wig from a woman’s head.

A man staying at the Westin Diplomat Hotel in Hollywood accused Esther Armbrister, 20, of allegedly stealing over $1,600 in cash from his shorts pocket.

Officers stopped the woman outside the hotel, who showed them she wasn’t hiding anything in her pants pockets or bra, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.

Then one officer removed the suspect’s glued-on wig and discovered 15 $100 bills and six $20 bills hidden underneath, according to the newspaper.

Armbrister was arrested and later confessed to the crime. She was charged with grand theft and resisting an officer without violence, and is being held in Broward jail without bail.
